I was in Kosher Mart yesterday, the Washington DC kosher emporium, and saw a brand new display of Jelly Belly jelly beans for sale. This struck me as odd since I knew that Jelly Belly’s have had a sketchy hashgacha (kosher certification) for as long as I could remember. This afternoon I made contact with the local Vaad HaKashrus (the DC kosher certification board), and found out that the Orthodox Union had just recently taken over the hashgacha and Jelly Belly, along with its 100 other brands, was now OU kosher.
New boxes with the OU symbol will be on the shelves very soon, but you can already buy their products online.
I can not wait to eat a handful of these supposedly amazing confections!
