“Hit a Jew Day”

Some 6th graders near St. Louis are in trouble after taking Spirit Week too far. What started as “Hug a Friend Day” quickly evolved and became “Hit a Jew Day.” According to school officials, 10 of the school’s 35 Jews were somehow hit. A link may be found here.

You’ve got to see some of the comments on the USA Today site:

“What is scary is that you lump ‘Middle America’ as a whole in this comment. If that is not bigoted and intolerant, I don’t know what is.”

“bullies. The sad thing is the attempt to minimize by saying “less than 10″ were hit. Well that could be said another way: One third of the Jewish children were hit. I wonder how that would have sounded if the attack was more akin to the Nazi’s typical attacks on Jewish people? One third of the Jews in the world were euthanized ….. Genocide starts here. Teach the kids diversity early.”

“Crazy Kids, what can you do with them??”

“Fewer than 10 of 35 struck 30% of students struck. If only ONE student was struck under the authority of this schools faculty and administration, it was one too many. This was an official school activity as part of Spirit Week and therefore under the direct control of Faculty and Administrators. No student council acts without direct control of the faculty and administration. BEFORE you discipline the students, fire the Faculty Sponsor and School Principal that approved the activity. Make a POINT and let it be known that this anti-Jewish activity will NOT be tolerated under ANY circumstances.”

Ten out of 35… That was about Hitler’s record too.
