“Holy Land Hardball”

The final documentary featured in this year’s SnagFilms SummerFest is “Holy Land Hardball.”

The film follows the dubious formation of the Israel Baseball League (IBL) by Larry Baras, a Boston bakery owner with no sports management experience. Stirred to action by a midlife crisis, Baras recruits a diverse collection of executives and ballplayers for the IBL, the first ever professional baseball circuit in the Middle East. You can view this documentary for free on SnagFilms during it’s exclusive screening this coming week, Friday August 21th – Thursday, August 27th. We have embedded the film here on Jewneric for your viewing pleasure.

From tryouts to the fateful first game, Holy Land Hardball is a wildly entertaining story that transcends sports, and speaks to the power of pursuing a pipedream in the face of impossible odds.

While the above mostly comes from a release, I just want to add that a friend of mine, Dovid Green, actually played in the inaugural season of the IBL. Dovid is the first player you see in the film, appearing at around the 8 minute mark. It was a great experience for him and for all of us back home in the states following him that season.

Enjoy!
