At Jewneric we want to showcase the fact that the Jewish community is diverse with numerous opinions and perspectives. In an attempt to bring in many writers with many opinions to the new Jewneric.com, it’s inevitable that one person’s opinion or writing will not sit well with others.

We are ultimately seeking to give multiple Jewish voices a singular platform to espouse their views, which we believe is beneficial to the Jewish community as a whole.

We’ve all seen The Social Network (If not you should, right now, Go!), and there is no doubt that this attraction exists.
Trust me, I’m a Jew. So what’s the deal with this attraction anyway?
After galavanting around Manhattan this past Saturday night with Jewish girls of course, I found myself sharing a cab with a Filipino girl back to Brooklyn. Relax mom I was just making sure she got home..uh..safely.
Mind you, officially Filipinos are Asians and the Philippines is part of Southeast Asia. The Philippines used to be called the Philippine Islands of the Pacific, so describing Filipinos as Pacific Islanders is still not wrong.
Our lively conversation ensued, and because this attraction has been plaguing me for so long I had to get her thoughts on the matter at hand. After clearly offending her when I told her the Jewish guys that I know think Asian girls are more submissive- bad idea- she started a defense on behalf of the whole female Asian community. I don’t think she saw my point, that sometimes the attraction is rooted in low self-esteeÂm men who can’t handle the tough Jewish woman, and are attracted to Âthe general passivity of asian women.
Still, I was troubled because I clearly don’t have low self asteem. Why am I- or for the sake of argument- why do most Jewish guys have an attraction to Asian women?
HuffPo provides some insight into this phenomenon, going into detail about how Jews and Asians are both ‘People of the Book’ and how we share strikingly similar cultural and historic values and traditions. Sure, that may be true and will definitely score you some points at the dinner table, but that isn’t whats grabbing my attention when I spot that cute Korean by the bar. I don’t buy it.
Of course the limelight hits on Fellow member of the tribe and and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who has been embracing this attraction for a couple of years now. Zuckerberg has been heavily dating (Possibly engaged?) Chinese-American Priscilla Chan who he met in his sophomore days at Harvard.
To quote my over zealous Taglit-Birthright counselor: “Keep it in the tribe boys. We need more Jewish babys!” The intermarriage question is a whole other debate that we can discuss another time.
