Jen, It is mind-boggling that you are "blaming the victims" - Israeli citizens - for DEFENDING themselves from hostile neighbors who wish nothing less than their complete extermination! How do you co-exist peacefully with someone who is constantly attacking your children on their schoolbus or in their university cafeteria? And then the rocket-firing terrorists go and hide amongst their own civilians. Believe me, Israelis pray for peace every day...

The arab nations have 99% of the land and 100% of the oil in the region - yet that is not enough for them? Jews, whose ancestors had lived for centuries in arab countries throughout the middle east, have been banished from their ancestral homelands since World War II. Yet you ignore these refugees. Where would you have them go, if not to Israel?....

Jen, you're not the first to accuse a Jew of having dual loyalties (as you imply I can't really call myself Canadian and be pro-Israel too) and of using "goyim" to realize our nefarious "religious platforms". A shame you had to pull out the outdated Anti-Semitic stereotypes. In fact, I'm actually a dual citizen of US and Canada, but I'm guessing that doesn't bother you as much or dilute my "true Canadianness" as much in your eyes as loyalty to Israel does (indeed, dual citizenship is perfectly legal and you can still call yourself Canadian). What is it about Israel specifically then? I'm also loyal to my family, faith, sports teams, city, etc. I'm all for as many "denominations in the world" as people want to come up with as long as they all respect each other. You fascistic demand of absolute loyalty to one denomination at the expense of all others is an anti-Semitic canard I had thought was outdated and your use of this accusation horrifies me and shows your real self. You should be ashamed of yourself. I would appreciate an apology.

How about it makes you proud to be amongst goyim who stand up for your religious platforms, as oppose to inserting more denominations within the human race and calling yourself Canadian.

Jen- Harper was obviously not expressing pride in the bloodshed you speak of, but rather in the existence of Israel as a state and its many positive accomplishments. But I am actually quite proud of some of the killings you speak of, such as the targeted assassinations of terrorists which have helped make Israel’s citizenry safer.

Also, Israel’s symbol of triumph is not just over the “rock throwing Palestinians” but also over: the molotov cocktail throwing, rocket firing, suicide bombing, civilian shooting, stabbing, mass murdering Palestinians (of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc.). To say nothing of Iran, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Hizballah, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon (actually, throw in all 22 Arab states), all of which Israel has triumphed over in defensive wars for its very existence at some point in its history. Oh, and also the general Jewish triumph over 2,000 years of persecution, pogroms, antisemitism, and exile which Israel represents.

I have the complete opposite reaction. The bloodshed and the people that have been killed (Israelis and Palestinians) is nothing to be proud of. The sorrow that has gone into Israel/Occupied Palestine isn't worth it. Nor will it. The conflict seems that it will never be solved and for us to support it, instead of supporting co-existing is sad.
Adn as regards to a symbol of triumph...triumph over whom? The rock throwing palestinians?

Makes me proud to be a Canadian. I don't remember our leadership ever being this openly supportive of Israel. I've heard that this was true with Trudeau, but as I wasn't alive, I can only go by what my parents and grandparents related to me.

[Full disclosure: my grandfather was Pierre Trudeau's first campaign manager, when he ran for local MP in a largely Jewish part of Montreal. My mother still remembers being bounced on Trudeau's knee as a little kid.]
