Dave’s Best Fed Secrets - Ari’s Deli (Washington Heights, NY)

“Don’t judge a book by its cover,” would be an appropriate quote for Ari’s, a hole in the wall delicatessen next to Yeshiva University in the Heights. This room-for-three-people-standing -only establishment has some of the finest fast food I have ever eaten. Ari also owns a catering business on New Yorks Upper West Side and brings his years of experience to serving quick delicious food to young college students.

A few months ago I was commuting to New York and staying over with friends in the Heights. We would, on occasion, order from Ari’s. The service was always quick and still piping hot when it arrived. All their items have great names and taste equally as good. The sandwiches come overstuffed made to your specification. Try the Chipotle mayo on everything if you like spicy and creamy. My favorite item is the “Kiz My Knish,” a knish stuffed with deli and spicy mustard. Mmm Mmm good.

Update: Ari’s closed this summer. Ari will be focusing on his catering business.

Moshe Glasser says:

Actually, there is a rumor that Ari is looking for a truck, similar to the ones that spread Chimichurra Fritongas across the Heights, to use as a restaurant in the coming year. This would be beyond awesome - Ari’s amazing sandwiches available, construction-site style, on any corner in the Heights? God bless America.
