Genetic Markers to Identify Lost Ones
There are four letters of the genetic alphabet - A, C, T and G - which pair up and create your DNA. Thanks to modern technology, a scientist named Syd Mandelbaum, who had been part of the Anastasia Romanov disproving effort of 1994, started the DNA Shoah Project. Through the use of these markers, this project is geared towards reuniting families of the Holocaust and identifying remains of the lost, fallen Jews. All that is needed to be a part of the database is a swab of the cheek. All of the materials will be furnished to you completely free of charge. For more information, or to request a kit to participate in the database, please visit www.DNAShoah.org.

What a wonderfully beautiful idea!

Syd Mandelbaum said that the main idea for this came about when the Germans and (especially) the Polish started doing genetic testing on bodies they uncovered to see if it was someone who went missing, or a homicide, and began placing the information into databases as records. The program is soon to launch in Israel as well.

Great idea. Their site doesn’t make it too easy to register for a free kit though. I emailed them a few minutes ago. I hope to I get my swabber in the mail soon.
