The Huffington Post Goes to Israel

Huffington PostSeveral influential bloggers have been taken on a tour of Israel courtesy of the Solomon Project. Writers from DailyKos, The Huffington Post, MyDD and several other progressive blogs were brought to Israel to see, first hand, what is going on with the current political landscape.

The Solomon Project, which is affiliated with the National Jewish Democratic Council,”was founded in 1996 to educate the American Jewish community about its rich history of civic involvement,” and “has worked towards this goal by fostering — particularly among young Jews —opportunities for discussion, education and engagement in the public policy arena…all from a uniquely Jewish perspective, and all to help achieve Tikkun Olam, or the repair of our society and the world around us.”[1]

This group of American bloggers will meet with Israeli bloggers and journalists, as well as senior Israeli and Palestinian lawmakers and officials.

“It is important that progressive bloggers and leaders of progressive organizations learn first-hand about the current situation in Israel,” said a statement issued by the Solomon Project. “We also want to provide them with an eye-opening experience that will help them better understand the complexity of the Arab-Israeli conflict.”

As a side note, I would (as I am sure most of our contributors would as well) be happy to go on a trip to Israel to better understand the political climate, geography and aspects of the conflict. For that matter, I am interested in traveling on Jewneric’s behalf to any local, event, lunch, or the like to better understand what is going on for most any topic. Comment below or email me if you’d like to take me up on that offer.

BTW… you can now become a fan on Jewneric’s Facebook Page, where you can answer our poll, join in on a discussion or invite your friends to join. You can also join our LinkedIn Group, or follow me on Twitter.

Thanks for the JTA Breaking News link, William.

Seth Jacobson says:

Are you seriously offering trips to Israel to blog about the political situation?

Dave Weinberg says:

I am not. Perhaps there is a Jewneric reader who is affiliated with an organization that might want to bring several of us to Israel to “observe”.

Anyone?

Dave Weinberg says:

Or bring one or two of us to a conference, or to another country, or to lunch, or send of stuff to review (we already get movies and books which are wonderful and we love watching/reading).
