Terrorist Attack in Jerusalem
About an hour and a half ago, at 8:30 PM (Israel time), at least 2 terrorists entered Yeshivat Merkaz haRav and shot tens of students.
News reports are reporting between 6 and 8 dead, (plus the terrorists), as well as 6 evacuated, and another 20 35+ injured.
Merkaz haRav, located in Jerusalem, is the flagship yeshiva for the Religious Zionist movement.

Abu Abir, a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees has gone on the record saying that the attack today at Yeshivat Merkaz HaR.av was a blessed act . “The only way that Israelis will have security is to get up and leave Palestine. All Palestinians will chase after every last one; we won’t leave them space to bury their dead. This is the first of many acts that the Palestinian resistance promised and started to carry out.”
Fawzi Barhum, a Hamas spokesman stated that “following the IDF action in northern Gaza, it is only natural that the Palestinians react to the massacre that the Israeli army carried out.”
Seth Jacobson says:
So is Israel going to “show restraint” in its “response”? What does that even mean? How do you respond to something like this? Assume it’s only the “extremists” who planned and implemented the attack? Call out Hamas in Gaza for its statement calling it a “blessed” act? Turn off the power in Gaza city and get hammered in the international community for punishing “innocent” civilians? I’m just wondering out loud.

I was watching CNN and the first mention of this news was in the ticker that runs bellow the reporters. The story read “Gunman attacks school in Jerusalem, 8 dead…….The UN condemns Israels actions in Gaza”
After all these years CNN never ceases to piss me off.
Seth Jacobson says:
I saw the same ticker. Except I saw it about half an hour after I first saw them report it with footage, which was about 2 hours after the attack. Ie, they were still running the same ticker you saw earlier, pissing off me and countless others with their juxtaposition of this attack with the UN’s condemnation of Israel.

the politics, the frustration, the hartred, the agony, and the pain. I feel it all with you. But please lets take a moment to remeber that we have brothers who passed away today. Brothers who are going to be disabled for life, or at least scared. Familes have been ripped apart today. I hope anyone who has family in Israel has spoken with them. and if you are related to any of the deceased or injurned, my heartfelt condolences. In the Gaza Strip, gunmen fired in the air to celebrate the attack, three days after Israel ended a military offensive in the Hamas-run territory that killed more than 120 Palestinians, about half of whom were identified as civilians.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas official, said the group “blesses the heroic operation in Jerusalem, which was a natural reaction to the Zionist massacre”.
A loudspeaker in Gaza City blared the message: “This is God’s vengeance.”
