The Friendship Jewneric Opportunity
Hey Jewneric Family, I want to share with you an incredible opportunity to help the Jewish community at large. The friendship Circle in West Bloomfield is holding its third annual Walk4Friendship. And I think that this is something we can get involved in. The friendship circle has over 70 locations worldwide, and has just opened the first ever Kosher Living Facilities for people Jews to go to. Yah I know most people think that drinking and drugs is not a Jewish problem. But believe it or not, it is.
If everyone who reads Jewneric donated $2.00 we could raise thousands. Let’s make it happen.

Here is some info on the friendship circle, and the friendship recovery homes.
The Walk4Friendship is an annual vehicle for volunteers, families and friends of Friendship Circle to show their appreciation and support through an exciting fundraising opportunity. This fun-filled event is attended by a broad cross-section of people who come together to demonstrate their solidarity and support.
The event begins at 1:00 PM with the opening ceremony and pep rally, followed by a 5K walk starting at the Jewish Community Center at 6600 W. Maple Road in West Bloomfield and concluding at the Meer Family Friendship Center campus, 6892 W. Maple Road. Participants also have the option of a one mile Family Walk. A variety of family oriented activities, refreshments and entertainment will be available until 4:00 PM.
Registration for the walk is free, and every registered walker receives a free Walk4Friendship T-shirt and water bottle holder.
Last year’s Walk4Friendship drew more than 2,000 participants and raised over $370,000. This year’s goal is $500,000, which will be used to expand the services and activities that the Friendship Circle offers to more than 800 families throughout metro Detroit.
372 participants grouped into 46 teams have registered for the walk so far via the official web site, www.walk4friendship.org, which is used to send out thousands of emails to potential supporters and to track each team’s progress.
Corporate sponsorships are also available. Current corporate sponsors include Homedics, Miller Canfield, Blue Ribbon Restaurants, Invescor LTD, Leadpile, Broaching Machine Specialists (BMS), Michigan Institute of Neurological Disorders (MIND), Detroit Popcorn, Howard Schwartz, Michael A. The Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization founded in 1994, has a refreshing approach to helping families of children with special needs. More than 800 volunteers bring the spirit of true friendship and unconditional acceptance to the hundreds of children who participate in over a dozen weekly recreational, social and educational programs, as well as summer and winter camps.
The world renowned 23,000 square-foot Ferber Kaufman LifeTown facility on the Meer Family Friendship Center campus, offers a unique educational setting for thousands of public school students with special needs, who utilize the realistic town setting of the Weinberg Village to practice life skills.
The organization also includes the Daniel B. Sobel Friendship House, which provides assistance and support to individuals and families struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and other related crises Friendship Recovery Homes were created to provide a supportive living environment for people who want to achieve complete and lasting recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
This kind of recovery goes beyond the early concerns of detoxification and initial abstinence. The path to true and permanent recovery involves healing not only the body, but the soul as well. This process is based on developing and maintaining a new set of values that the individual was not able to embrace during active addiction. These include honesty, integrity, faith, hope, courage, humility, willingness to be of service, and a new spiritual awareness.
People who recover successfully are not only free from using addictive drugs and alcohol, they are also imbued with a sense of inner peace, an increased level of self esteem, a greater capacity for intimacy, and a life that is more productive and fulfilling.
