“This Is The First Time Something Like This Has Happend In An Upscale Neighborhood”
This was the line used by the local reporter while sitting at her desk in a studio somewhere in midtown Manhattan. She was talking about a rash of swastikas that were found around Brooklyn Heights on Monday night. Two Shuls, some cars and a few homes found black swastikas spray painted on the walls or back of the cars. One house found the phrase “Kill the Jews” on their home. Nowhere in the report does it mention if the homes or cars belonged to Jewish families or not.
Assemblyman Dov Hikind (who I am not going to pretend is not crazy) held a press conference today about this. His theory is that Ahmadinijad’s visit has been the catalyze of these acts. Other news stations (like AP, whose clip I am pasting at the end of this post because I do not know how to actually post a video) did not mention the visit, only that the crime came after the Jewish High Holy days.
I found Fox’s coverage interesting. They did not actually show the swastika on air. They fussed it out so you could not see what it looked like. Also, they were all very surprised that this happened in an affluent area, not some grubby place in the forgotten areas of New York City.
So here is the question I have; Who thinks that this does have some connection to Ahmadinijad’s speech and visit, or is it just another random act of antisemitism that we have unfortunately become accustomed to?
