Yes to Carrots

Yes To CarrotsListen to your mother and eat your vegetables.

I have a confession to make: I have frizzy hair. Yes, I am your typical Jewish girl that comes adorned with a full head of frizzy curls. Of course, growing up I fought my curls tooth and nail to get the pin straight, shiny, no frizz look. Let me tell you, it took years to master. So what happens to me recently? I get the fabulous opportunity to test out a brand new product that at first I had doubts about. Use a product that has the name of a vegetable on their packaging that I put on my hair and not ingest it? Well, why not? Yes to Carrots is a new line that comes straight from Israel. “Combining Dead Sea mud and minerals, along with organic fruits and vegetables bursting with Beta-Carotene”, it promises to leave your hair silky and soft.

“Fat chance of that,” I think to myself. I should know: I am the queen of trying every hair product to every edible product that magazines and salons swear will reduce my frizz and transform my puffy hair to perfect celebrity style glamor hair. From John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease line to expensive salon products such as Frederik Fekkai to Mayonnaise to Olive Oil, you name it, I tried it.

After reasoning with myself a little more, I decided to try it out. The C Loves Your Hair Pampering Carrot Juice Shampoo poured out a little too thinly, which only began to confirm my doubts. Until an aromatic smell wafted around me. Like I said, I am the queen of trying any product to reduce the frizz. Therefore, you should be able to trust me when I say that the shampoo and the Pampering Hair Mud Conditioner really did leave my hair silky and smooth. I was floored. Perhaps it was the Dead Sea minerals, or all of the Beta-Carotene that they packed in there, but indeed I was left with much more manageable hair than ever before. I was hooked.

But this ingenious new Israeli line doesn’t just stop with hair care products. Their C Through the Dry Spell Body Butter is a rich moisturizing cream that left me with soft skin without the oily residue.

But my most favorite product is the last one that I tried. It’s called Feel the C Pampering Spa Manicure. At first I assumed it was just really thick hand cream. Never assume, my friend. What it really is is a mini paraffin exfoliation treatment for your hands right in your own bathroom. All you do is rub this grainy, yummy smelling mixture on your hands as if you are washing your hands with soap and water. It feels like tiny salt granules on your hands. Then, you wash it off with warm water and –voila!– your hands are as smooth and hydrated as if you just walked out of a top notch salon.

Bottom line: You can search high and low for the best beauty products, but sometimes, if you listen to your mother and say Yes to Carrots, you can find just what you are looking for right in your local drugstore. (Walgreens or Duane Reed in the US and Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada)
